Can We See Some Engine Bays?

I'm looking for some motivation to clean up my engine bay. Mostly just to clean things, but maybe there's some fun ideas out there to remove things, tidy things up, etc.

Any chance we could start a thread of people showing off engine bays? All are welcome - Dirty, Cluttered, Clean and Stock, Modified, Race cars, etc.

I have an '86 944 that's been 968 swapped so when I later had it painted I took the opportunity to swap to a 968 washer reservoir that sits in the front right guard behind the inner guard liner. it's not compatible with 944 bonnet struts so my fabricator made a workaround for it and i plan to change to the 968 bonnet hinges and gas struts to clear the filler neck.

I had my engine cover and intake colour coded to match my wheels. My brake fluid reservoir was changed, the coolant reservoir was new too but I've been chasing cooling problems since the 968 swap and overheating is apparently enough to brown the reservoirs plastic. I have an RS Barn heat shield on the exhaust manifold and a bespoke strut brace.

I have also picked up a 924 Turbo headlight motor so I can have motor on each headlight and remove the cross bar but I'm not 100% if I want to do that yet, but it would help put in a larger diameter pipe from the S2 airbox to the 968 MAF. The current pipe steps down in diameter and has a cut out for the cross bar.

i'll share a few photos shortly.

Here's a good resource, if you're hunting for pictures: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-924-944-968-technical-forum/812643-show-us-your-engine.html

Since that thread has been dead for about as long as the type 944's production run, I'm all for some new pics in a new thread. Here's my '84's bay:

Still want to get some accessories and other bits re-plated, but it's getting there!

I also use that paint on the 968 fan shroud & rad cap....it is call Dupli-Color metal cast it's a Anodized paint , when apply properly will last a long time --0n metal--aluminium--& even Chrome.Parts should be exempt of rust or dirt so you need to clean then well .Apply a first coat very ligthly & keep building it up until you reach the desire hue.NB this paint is also heat & grease proof.Sending you some pics .http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1661292046.jpg

What you should do is make a test on a piece of steel or alluminium, take your time & like said, apply coat very ligthly until you get the desire hue, take care & have fun:D.

Not immaculate, but was much much worse when I got the car. Shows what you can do with a little elbow grease. Last time I had the intake off I painted it.

Thanks ernie944. Will do.

What's that bracket you have holding the air filter up? Looks nice and clean/simple.

....Thank's AJT944....Part of my job at one time was frabricator -welder,,,so I did all the parts out of alluminium myself to attache the K&N throtle body,I also frabricated and air intake with a screen ...see last pic....where the OE one came in so no dirt or water will come in.sending you pics so maybe you can figure out where all the attachements were located ...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1661563849.jpgIn the first pic would will see a flat bar ...on the left side of the main braket...that was to hold the rad hose up once the OE air boxe was remove.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1661563927.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1661564256.jpg....Sorry it's hard for me to explain how everthing was done ,cause first it's was done a long time ago & I didn't take any measurments at that time:D

V2, I was unaware of this one. Is there a thread on it anyplace I could read? I’ve always thought that a V6 would make way more sense than a V8.

Best, John

Most of the relevant info is here, but it's not a build thread:
