Steering vibration @ 60-70 mph
Got a '89 944 N/A in which the steering starts 2 vibr8 once i hit 60-70 mph. At 80 mph on rough surface it was was particularly uncomfortable. Vibration seems 2 rel8 2 quality of road surface (left front shock absorber is due 2 b replaced). Shake does clear up as road surface improves. CV joints seem firm-no movement even when on hoist. I'm assuming shocks, steering shaft or wheel balance are the problem.

Have you lost any wheel weights? Check that first, my 86na when I had it did the same thing. That would be the easiest to check and the least expensive.

wheel balance will do it! i also had a similr problem in my 924 a long time ago and it turned out that the rear wheel bearings were worn. you could ONLY tell if the car was jacked up and you pushed the wheel up and down.. if the wheel was shaken it could not be detected. once the wheel bearings were fixed, ALL vibrations went away. strange, but it was the REAR wheel bearings that was making the FRONT of the car vibrate. don't ask me about the physics of such an occurance, all i know is that is what did it!
good luck! obin |

"steering shaft"...I assume you mean drive shaft. Put in neutral and rev motor with clutch out. Shaft turns. You would feel vibration in your gluteus maximus.
