Headlights won't pop up

Here’s the situation, when the headlight switch is depressed the lights go on (but nobody’s home) but the mechanisms don’t pop the lights…
The fuse is good for the motor, the relay is working correctly as well (as confirmed by a DVM)

Is the motor shot???
Is there a switch that tells the motor to run???

Help me please, I will drive home later tonight and crank them up by hand and will consult the Haynes Bible then… any help before tonight would be appreciated.

Try fiddling with your ground wire that is coming from the motor. I had the opposite problem with my old 944 (the lights would not go back down) and it was just a faulty wire.

Check the relay on the motor.

I had a problem where they wouldn't go down. It was a bad wire in the plug on the motor servo. Recently, they wouldn't go up: turned out to be a bad wire in that plug again. Try jiggling the plug, it might momentarily connect. Also, my problem was compounded by the light brackets being out of alignment. The two bolts on the bottom of the bracket can be loosened and the whole light mechanism can be moved backward and forward. Mine was too far forward and was binding the linkages and the motor didn't have enough power to overcome.
