I actually changed the clutch to a sport/lighter unit from centerforce soon after buying my car. When the transaxle was taken out of the car (because of burnt pinion bearings), I decided to go ahead and proceed with a clutch change while I was there.

If you're doing this yourself, make sure you realize your transaxle is going to be off the car, along with the exaust, and the torque tube will be loosened, moved a little bit. I'd recommend at least a haynes manual. Excellence also had an article about changing clutches on 944s not too long ago. Factory manual is superb as well.

Anyway, watch out when you're unbolting the bolts that go through the torque tube, to the block. Could try something like liquid wrench, or WD-40 (or something similar). Also make sure the clutch is aligned, while putting it in.

NOTE: When the clutch was pulled at 90+k, the rubber centeral dampener had a lot of cracks on it, but the wear was barely past halfway of the friction meterial.
Good luck,
Ahmet
