replacing heater valve

Hi all,
recently became the owner of an 86 n/a. Seems to run fine so far, but I think I have to change the heater valve. It appears that coolant is leaking out of the valve itself. I replaced the upper hose, so I am thinking it is the valve. I have been searching this forum for clues on how to change this out. It looks like it might be a difficult job since it is such a tight fit down there. If anyone has done this before, I would appreciate a few pointers on how to make this job easier.

Thanks

Welcome to the madness. Soul check is on the left, tool checkout is on the right.

No real trick to it. Just need some long arms and a long screwdriver.

You are going to lose some coolant - you will have to bleed the system (do a search, been covered several times on how to do it)

It can be helpful (if you have short arms) to jack the car up a bit so you have access from the top and bottom.

I have a brand new heater valve. I purchased it for my 87 944 and ended up not needing it. I can ship it to you for $22.
Let me know.
Thanks
Ross
