Hello Everyone,
I have decided to embark on the journey of repairing my A/C compressor instead of paying 500-700$ for a new one. I recently bought a new clutch solenoid and come to find out it is the wrong one for my car. When I started taking apart my A/C compressor on my 1988 Porsche 924S non turbo. I found that A/C clutch solenoid in my car was labeled with a Ford stamp and cannot locate the part number through ford. Am I crazy or is something else going on? As far as I was aware when i bought the car I was told that the A/C had never been worked on. I am finding that hard to believe since this part and some of the wiring had been messed with. Is it possible that a Ford compressor could work in a 1988 924s? Any help would be appreciated thank you. ![]() |

the early 944 has a 6E171 compressor shared with Chrysler and some tractors..
the late car uses a 10P15 compressor shared with lots of Fords, yes. the compressor guts itself is the same but the mounting brackets/belt # grooves changes by application FWIW my original 1984 944 heater hoses had Ford ovals on them too. |

Ok thank you for clearing that up for me. I was so confused this is my first Porsche 924S and had no idea that the guts for the compressor originated from that. I had to pony up and buy a new compressor as the old compressor still did not work after installing the new clutch solenoid.
