refinished my cookies

Getting ready to work on both 944s:

Corroded (ie ugly) wheel:

The same wheel, after the long and painful job:

as soon as I can, I am going to hand-paint the center caps... but for now, I think you will agree that the wheels are a huge improvement.

Used paint stripper to bubble up the clear coat, removed all this with steel wool, sanded away the corrosion gashes, used polishing compound to get rid of the scratches, and wheel polish to give them that nice shine.

All in all, took about 4 hours

Clearcoat them or they will corrode again.

Wow, what an improvement! What i had planned to do was sort of make my cookies look like the riviera type style on the 914s... with the low spots being black, and the high spots polished out. Be sure to use a nice high-temp clear coat. Engine enamel/clear coat works good too!

Good Work CJFusco!!

I also refinished my cookies over the past winter. They were very very very corroded though. The pic below was taken right before I was about to paint the center, the lip was pretty much done though it just needed one more final polishing. I haven't got any pics since I finished them . They look alot better, but I really was just looking to make them tide me over till I can get my hands on a used set of 17 cup's or something.
