What does a slipping clutch smell like?

Burning or sweet? My 951 has been experiencing a split second hesitation in third and fourth gear when on boost. just trying to rule out the clutch.

Somewhat of a burning odor.

Very unique smell - closest I could describe it to is burning brakes

Yep, very similar to burning brakes. The "sweet" smell might be emissions (rich)

It could also smell like burning rubber... if the rubber disk happens to be disentegrating.

definitely, it'll break off in chunks too and can keep the clutch from being engaged.

do you know what kind of clutch you have? the rubber center clutch disks kind of wiggle around where they would normally slip when the rubber starts disintegrating. it would be a pretty noticable clank and jerky deceleration
i think burning antifreeze smells kinda sweet

I hear it tastes sweet too. I would guess antifreeze. What does brake fluid smell like? Transmissions smell like brakes but a little different.

Mine used to smell like marzipan (sweet yellow stuff on Battenburg Cake) when it ran rich, it also used to hesitate a little in the higher gears, probably because it was running rich. It also used to lurch quite a bit setting off for the same reason...

I have been meaning to get to a dyno. Matbe August will be the month since I can't get to any Drivers Ed that month. I want to have the air/fuel ratio checked out. i think i will throw in some new spark plugs tomorrow also to start ruling out some other areas.
