Turd in the punch bowl
 Damn PO. This appears to be an audi? Fuel injector in my rail. The size is the same, connections the same, length the same..only difference is no hat at the end. Should I put it back in or get a genuine replacement? (think about it as if your spending your own money  )

Compare the spark plugs. If things are different, you should see it. If they all look the same and the car runs fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

The hats and seals come as a reseal kit at most parts stores including Pep Boys.
The ones I've seen and others have reported on do not have the conical recess/counter bore that the OEMs do. You can use a sharp large drill bit to fix the after market ones.

P.S. You did check the intake to make sure the hat is not stuck in it?

how do you know that you are not driving an audi with everything switched except that fuel injector?

Just kidding about the piston.
Actually  I seemed to have water infiltration into the number one and two. Odd FI was number two. The head gasket was in such bad shape I am not sure if I could really tell if it had anything to do with the injector or not.
