radiator problem

Ok i am loosing water like crazy, gave it 4 liters yesterday, and today i gave it a jug full of water. Whats it cost to get a new radiator and have it installed, or maybe just get this leak patched? and which is the better idea?

Where is the leak?

If it's in the plastic sides such as a crack then you have to get a another radiator.

If the leak is the o-ring between the sides and the aluminum core then you may be able to get away with replacing the o-ring (a good hydraulic shop has the ability to make any diameter up) and re crimping the side back. There is a local shop here that says they can do that but I haven't had the need to try them.

There is a small plastic barb by thread fitting in the top corner of mine that the overflow tank is attached to (besides the larger tubing). I've heard of this loosening or cracking.

Then most of the leaks I've come accross are where the hoses have swelled up and leak at their fittings. A new clamp or just tightening the one thats there fixes it -- for a while. Other wise it's new hose time.

If you can take the radiator out yourself take it to a radiator repair shop. I had the plastic end tanks replaced on mine for around $60 as well as having the radiator rodded out.
