where does the round refrence sensor wire off the top of the bellhousing connect to? TIA

Is it possible you're looking at the connector for the O2 sensor, its routed up to the bracket for the reference sensors?

theres the two rectangular connectors on the wires to the two sensors on top then another wire below but the connector is circular with three prongs inside it. anyone bueller? thanks

That is the TDC sensor. (A "diagnostic" port for the dealer). So for you, it doesn't connect to anything.

is it 02 or diagnostic. im thinking its 02 though also. thanks scott and ahmet for the help

It's the timing sensor for the dealer's engine tester. It has nothing to do with the 02 sensor.

Do you mean the little plug attached to the lift bracket on the back of the head? Then yes thats a diag port, iot should have a little plastic cover over it. If its a wire coming up from the side of the bell housing then its the O2 sensor. I have seen several O2 plugs just hanging in funny places recently.
