Cam marks = tdc always???

Tuesday eve when I got the timing belt back on and adjusted I freaked out for a few minutes...

Found tdc at the flywheel.
It matched cam marks PERFECTLY
turned the crank a few times with no major resistance
lined up the cam mark..
COULDN'T FIND TDC ON THE FLYWHEEL.
turned cam 180deg and there it was!
freakin out freakin out freakin out freakin out

Turned the flywheel one complete revolution to find tdc again

looked at the cam marks and it was perfect!

Is this normal- please say yes

This is normal, the cam turns at half crank speed.

Wheeeewhhhh.

The confusion comes in when the manuals tell you to turn the crank two complete revolutions and check alignment.

If you turn the crank two revolutions the cam timing must be on the mark. Always rotate the crank twice after every adjustment.
