Question yet another problem

I was entering the freeway this evening... I revved up a ways, in first and second, the car sputtered and almost died when I revved to about 3500 or 4000 and just wouldn't accelerate. Does anybody know what happened?

Did you make it home? Any other symptoms? Sputtering under acceleration could be a number of things:

ignition (wires/rotor/cap/coil), bad gas, dirty injectors, missed shift :-)

How many miles do you have? Could be something loose inside the cat causing blockage.

Well, it has 123,500 miles or so. Which is a bit high. I had just had my exhaust welded together, I wondered if that had something to do with the temperature of the piping and maybe through off a sensor or something. What do y'all think?

123,500 miles or so. I made it home no problem, but after pretty much pinning the throttle to clear up the accelerating problem some how this then letting it idle for about a minute fixed it. Although I havnt driven it yet today. Also, I just got the car back from having the exhaust welded together, could this have something to do with it?

you should probably borrow a DME, switch it w/yours and see if it clears up your problem. It is easy to damage the DME by welding with it plugged in.

After that first time it has completely stopped. It goes fine now, and I even had more stuff welded today... and it's worked fine! so, its okay i suppose. Thanks!
