AC not working

Yesterday I drove the car and the AC wasn't working - no drop in air temp at all. Prior to yesterday the system worked perfectly with really cold air (new compressor 2 years ago)

The lamp in the AC switch was on, and I could hear a change in the engine note when you pressed/released the switch.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,

Mark

Is your temp mixing system working? When you turn the temp knob does the air get hotter, then colder as it approaches outside temp?

If not your mixing flap clip may be broken.

Hmmm not sure, I'll try it tonight. Is it easy to fix?

10 min labor and about $3 for the parts. The clip is located just above and to the side of the gas pedal, behind a black plastic cover.

10 min labor? Isn't that a little generous?

OK so I tried the temperature control yesterday and it is working fine. Hot air when set hot and coolish air when set to cold. But no change when the AC button is pressed.

Any more ideas anyone? Thanks!

Mark

Also the radiator cooling fans are coming on - but no change in engine note when I pull the "AC Compressor" relay.

So it looks like either relay or the A/C electromagnetic clutch

Or your system is empty, jump the terminals on the pressure switch next to the dryer, see if that gets the compressor going.

Thanks I'll try that - but one day the system was working great, the next day nothing - it doesn't fit with a slow leak - maybe a sudden one.

I've got the compressor relay pulled to test it - will test it on monday.

When the compressor front seal went on mine it lost all of the pressure in a matter of moments.

Hoping its not the compressor, it had a new one from porsche 2 years ago at huge expense!

I suspect the relay or clutch.

Mine is doing the same thing and I can't figure it out. I just replaced the leaky hose, changed to R-134 (I think thats it), and it was working fine. THen yesterday it was blazing outside...and it won't work, and you can hear a relay clicking. I checked the relay and even tried to jump the relay today. CHeck connections at the compressor, and still nothing. I'm burnin up...
