An engineer and an accountant, NEED HUB!!
Ill let Hugh tell the story of our excapade this weekend with my car.(thanks Hugh ) But the long and the short of it is that I need a pair of rear hubs ( at least one) for my stock 83 944.Seems I really messed them up. But I think PO may have contributed to problem by not getting enough torque on left rear bolt. So I need a replacement hub for my car.Prefer LA / Orange County / San Diego area so that I can pick up ( cash available--Please be reasonably priced )
Email address is grsgi@aol.com or call me at 949-235-1583 Thanks

Try Partsheaven. I replaced one of mine that was bent with a used one purchased from them. This was several years ago.

A thought out conclusion (pay attention because in my growing "maturity" these don't come very often) is that the hub seals were old allowing massive amounts of water to get into the bearings and rust them. The outter roller bearing inner race siezed then started to spin on the stub axle. It actually cracked into four uneven sections! This let the hub loosen as there was nothing for the nut to stay torqed against. With a loose hub the splines on the harder stub axle wore into the hub. Thus the massive amounts of play when the wheel was off of the ground. Grabbing at the 3 and 9 o'clock possitions and rocking in and out gave almost an inch!!!! Gordon had a new roller bearing but not the inside ball bearing. I don't throw most things away and I had a decent inside (ball) bearing that was useable to get the car back on four wheels. So my 220 pounds at the end of a 2 foot breaker bar just barely nudged the nut to the hearest cotter pin cross bore. As Gordons 83 is his daily driver he needs a hub as soon as possible. Now as to the computer problems: I DO think that any computer problem that affects this community is ON SUBJECT and needs to be allowed to run it's course. Mine has seemed to quited down. Did the XP patch and tweaked the firewall settings. Reading the Symantic summary of how it propagates is interesting.

I personally wasn't affected with the problem, but many people around me were. And with the help of this community, we were able to solve the problem. After all, isn't that what a community is for?
