adding a/c to 86 944
 

any a/c experts out there? here are my plans and questions:
i have located an 87 944 (engine was pulled 1 month ago and a/c had charge) that i can get the following:
1.evaporator
2.condensor
(i will have both pressure tested)
3.dash controls and relay
4.all lines
price 400.00

i plan to purchase new:
1. compressor
2.resevoir (drier)
3.expansion valve
4.low pressure switch

here are my questions:
1.am i missing anything?
2.i assume all wiring is there. (i can see wires run to relay location) however i can't find wires for compressor?
3.do i need the entire a/c contol brain in the dash (lists for 400.00) or just the outer part which has the buttons (list foe less than 100.00)?

any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Unless you are starting with an especially nice car I would not bother. The market value of 944's are too low to justify this kind of expense. Consider selling your car and buy another one with working A/C.

I bought my 1986 944na with working AC and a bad clutch for $3,000. The clutch parts were $380 from Vertex.

dmac, i live in the south so it doesnt matter what the cost is it will be worth every penny. i'm doing a v8 conversion to the car so $7-800 extra for a/c is nothing compared to the $7000+ i'm putting into to car.(thats parts only-i'm doing all the labor) resale wont be an option, i'm holding on to this baby!
