any tricks for removing old stone guards?

I want to peel off my old stone guards but they are tearing off a millimeter at a time. I tried heat from a blow dryer and alcohol but nothing seems to work. What's the secret?

Yeah a hair dryer or direct heat source, a plastic scraper and patience (sp?)

Might have to get a hot air gun like is used for shrinking pallets.

A plastic windshield scraper works.

Also use denatured alcohol.

I used bug and tar remover, if you can find it in the can, not the spray. Plus, a hard plastic cake spatula to scrape. First I soaked the guards with the tar remover, then started scraping. It takes HOURS.

ok, thanks guys. I checked the search forum and there is no quick and easy method. between heat, adhesive removal substances and a scraper, it looks like a couple of evenings of patient labor is unavoidable. luckily I feel my 944 is worth it.

like Hugh said, a hair dryer won't cut it (no pun intended) as a heat source. you'll need a hot air gun. just be careful with the paint.

Jet/diesel fuel works well as a tar remover. I used it for years without any paint damage.

You know if they could come up with a perfume that smells like tires, gas, new leather, MEK, grease, with a hint of, Corona, I'd be in heaven.
