Post My 88 928S4 VS Boxter outcome?

Ok this is for the sake of conversation. At least 3 times a week I see this 40 something mid life chrisis suffering guy who pulls up next to me be it going to work in the morning or coming home. Every time he just revs it up and peals off. The only time I ever managed to make eye contact he flat out looked down own me "text book". He does this when I am in my 944 and 928. I know I have no chance in a 944 NA auto, but usually on Fridays I take the 928. I know she is a little heavy from the start but would it even be worth it? Would I get smoked?

well if it's an auto boxter, with a good driver it will pull about 7.4 seconds to 60. As for a manual it will run about 6.6.These figures were taken by a rescent pamphlet from an auto show. But if it's an "s", it will do 60 about a second faster in each category.

The boxter is not an S. I am pretty shure it's a stick by the way he spins out. My 928 ia a stick "rare as that is" But I dont want to have to jerk gears to beat him.

What year is your 928? I am thinking that you can take him. The 1983 928S does 0-60 in 6.7........

It's a 88. The only thing on it thats not stock is are the MSDS headers. Oh, and I got rid of some obstruction that was blocking air flow in the exaust system.

you gotta take him up to a higher speed ( i don't recommend street racing, but here it goes), the car your driving is a 4 valve per cyl 928 right?? i think that one did 0-60 in 6 seconds or soemthign close to that, its teh 4 valve one??

Anyway yah, take him up to a higher speed and the 928 will cruise past him if you can't get him at lower speeds, you beter find a good lonely road with a high speed limit.

Thumbs up

I think you could take him. The beauty of the 928's V8, is boatloads of torque, even down low in the RPM band. Torque gets you moving, HP keeps you moving.

Even better, yours is an S4. The closest to a factory hotrod that Porsche made in the 928 series.

Next Friday, have yourself a nice game of "Spank The Yuppie!"
