Need some Help

Hopefully this is simple. I'm replacing the front bearings. The Haynes says after you pull the hub off, remove the inside grease seal by 'carefully' prying it off with a screwdriver. I can't get the thing to budge! What's the best way to pull these things out? Thanks

The front seal is only pressed in and shouldn't take much effort. Use a flat bladed screwdriver (the blade fit on the inner part of the seal, so the screwdriver will be across the hub bearing) and and carefully lever the seal out. Use a piece of wood to avoid damaging the hub. Before trying to hammer out the bearing races, heat up the hub. Put the new races in the freezer.
If you hammer the bearing races out with heat you can damage the hub and the new bearing race will be loose.

yep, exactly what Britwrench said...:D

use a small piece of wood to drive in the new seal. Make sure the races and the seals go in straight.

Do you have to put in new races if you're changing the bearings? The races look fine and smooth, and the bearings don't look bad either, but I already have a new set so I thought I'd use them since I had everything apart anyway.

usually races and bearing sets are a match set...

Always replace the seals.
