S2 Mods

Where can I get a chip for the car cheap? 319 was the lowest i saw.

The car is bone stock in the engine so ... I heard the K&N filter was hard to find for this car ...where can i get it the cheapest?

Also what are some good upgrades to the suspention?

And what are some other mods i can do on the car without breaking the bank?

Take those wheels off and put the originals back on. They're horrible.

Koni Yellow shocks, stiffer springs at the front, stiffer torsion bars at the rear, and Weltmeister roll bar kits if you're really keen.

I meant horrible looking. No offense, I just have this thing about chrome wheels.

I think there are past threads about performance chips. There are good ones for $150.

The consensus I've heard is that strut braces are fairly pointless on these cars.

Best return will be on suspension mods and better braking especially for autocross.

You could add more valves.

(Think Wilks did this one!)

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

IMHO, the K&N filter won't get to much more hp, if any. Stick with stock.

Perhaps a free-flow exhaust will help get you more hp, but again, don't expect a huge increase.

Chips don't really help too much either: at best they up the rev-limiter by 500 rpm's.

Yep: the Porsche engineers did it right with the 3l 16v motor: not much more can be gotten out of it unless you start dumping lots of $$ into it.

My suggestion is to focus on your suspension: Koni Yellows (unless you already have them: I do ) coil overs, thicker rear sway bar...etc. But unless you track your car, I wouldn't go too crazy with a WTF suspension on a street driven car.

SoCal: cool pic!

Just my $0.42,
-Z-man.

Ok well ive descided what Ill get. Ill get a K&N filter that fits the stock setup (just so i dont have to change the paper). Seeing as it already has konis on it and it already has big ass brembos on it, I wont bother upgrading that. Ill also get a chip for it too. Exhaust costs to much to bother upgrading it for such a negligable power gain. Maybe if my exhaust breaks ill get something nice. And maybe just maybe ill get a new rear sway bar if i get some cash.

As it stands now. K&N filter and chip ...now to find them for cheap. FR Wilk you dont happen to make one for the s2 do you?

The only way to get a bit more power out if it is if you get rid of the CAT and use the standard ECU and up the fueling a bit. This will also make the K&N filter more effective. I would say it is waiste of time to use a chip unless you only use high octane fuels but you will still need to get rid of the CAT.

Take off weight. Improve the acceleration, handling, braking of the car, all while actually REDUCING the stress on the vehicle. Doesn't a lexan rear window take off 50 pounds or so?

If you stripped like 300 pounds off the car (I think this is possible without being extreme) I bet you'd feel it. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe ill start running again and lose a couple pounds.

You can copy my eprom if i get a free upgraded chip outa it and you slow dance with me.

I thought you already had to put high octane in .. not 87 in the s2s.
