Well I cut the catalitic converter off put a new K27-6 new rod bearings extended the oil pick up stuffed the engine in and it is burning oil. I can go through the gears wide open as soon as I engine brake she smokes Yuk. Car pulls like 10 bears but smokes like a pinto...I am hoping it is valve guides, as it only seems apparant on deceleration...Any input is much appreciated. Does anyone have a head for sale?

Best two ways I know of checking are to do a compression test and bleed down test. This should tell you everything you need to know..

Is the smoke Blue or just black? When I installed me supercharger on mine, with the increased boost my mixture was off and was causing black smoke out the back.

usually if it smokes on decel (high vacuum) it's bad valve stem seals. If it smokes under acceleration it's bad rings.
Valve stem seals aren't too hard to do. you shouldn't even have to pull the head. but you will have to remove the timing belt. Now's the time to replace it. Mike |
