Post Driver window clunks

what is happening when I am raising the window, it will bounce back from the top of the frame and not go all the way up. I've read somewhere or something about dirty channels,or are the channels are worn, motor works fine-goes down fine. Is there a regulator, obviously it's something that needs to be replaced or cleaned. What do I do and what am I looking for???? Is the window coming out of a track???

It is the window "regulator", which is actually a scissors type gear. The joints are wearing out. You can delay it totally crashing out by a few cycles by lubing it. But it is cooked, so look for a good price on a new one. One of the few items that lets you know it has had it.

If the window is clunking, don't delay in taking care of it! Mine did the same thing and less than a day after the noise started, the regulator mount cracked and I had to replace the whole mechanism.

Take off the door panel (the Haynes manual has the procedure documented well) and take a look at the window regulator. Make sure the bolts holding it to the door frame are tight and that the window channels are clear of any debris. I'm not sure if you want to try and lube the gears and joints while the regulator is still in the door (might get grease on the window itself) but that's the next step to take. The best solution is to remove the entire regulator, but be prepared for some cursing and knuckle scraping in the process.

Check out these threads for some more thoughts on the subject.
