Ok long post comming-
I drove my 951 up to the central coast yesterday. about 250 miles up. everything seemed fine except that sometimes the car would seem to rev with out the acc pedal being pressed. This would only happen at stops and would rev to about 2500 3k get a pop then come down to about 1200-1300. I thought at the time my floor mat was laying o n the accel. I got to the central coast beat the hell out of it (my friend found the rev limiter on most of the gears ). and drove home. Now it seems to only want to idle at 12-1500K. Other than that the power is cool and oil press / water stuff is all normal .. Matt |

Idle adjustment screw? It's on top of the throttle body, a screw that is recessed in on my car. Start the car and screw the screw all the way in, then back it out about 1/4 to 1/2 of a turn.

it could be a bad idle stabilizer valve.

should also add when I rev it now takes along time for the revs to come down it kind of hangs then slowly idles down.

My idle return plate spring popped off on day and that same thing happened to me, the plate moves slow without it, and the idle never returns back to the start position.

Sounds like the idle adjustment screw. There is a specific procedure for adjusting it whereby you bypass the AIC valve through the diagnostic port. The idle screw comes loose and works its way out - same thing happened on my car.
To see if this is the case, bypass the AIC through the diagnostic port and see if the idle changes. If it does, the AIC is in fact working. To fix it, bypass the AIC and put some silicone on the screw and adjust the idle to about 800 rpm. Disconnect the bypass wire and the car should be fine. Erick |

Hi,
Mine did the same thing and it ended up being the tiny O-ring around the idle-air mixture screw. It had stretched to the point were it wouldn't really seal. The other thing might be the throttle position sensor but the O-ring is cheaper ![]() |
