Dream Porsche? Notchy trans

Let's see, how do i start.
An 88 930 Cab came into work for the detail guy to go over. This morning, he started the car and apparently it was out of gear, but the car drove strait through the garage door anyway. So we now have a damaged 911.
Beautiful guards red, 49k mi. Now for the funky part. I was priveliged enough to drive it to the collision place. It's no wonder it drove out the door. To get the strange (to us 944 people) 4spd tranny out of first, you have to nearly put it in second. I guess the car's been sitting a couple years. Runs perfect, but the trans is messed up.
So we need new headlight rings, possibly new cab top and a front end respray. But, the guy was cool about it. He probably new about the trans issue.

Sucky, yet cool way to start a monday.

I wish some one would do up the front of mine as it could use some work ! Sorry to hear about your shops crash. How did the door look? Good thing no person was hit.

emwporsche, I work at a mercedes dealership. Wilson motors to be exact.
The car went strait through the door which was open slightly, across the alley and missed slamming into the dumpster by mere inches. We're just lucky nobody was driving in the alley this morning. Alot of nice cars (p-cars included) driving through there everyday.

Yep to what Ronin said.

That is why we should always step on the clutch when starting a car. Even when the car is in neutral and especially when we are driving unfamiliar cars.

The detail guy should have known better. I would have gone ape **** if that was my car.

Always put the clutch down.

the shifter gates were probably a little messed up - hope the detail guy didn't grind any gears - that is a quick way to be buying new synchro hubs

So is the detail guy looking for a new job tomorrow? Or was he just in for good a$$ chewing?

Aside from the funky trans it was awesome. Didn't have enough road to punch it (driving downtown), but i could definitely tell there were some horses waiting to be let loose.
