yes.. the fuel is flowing.. when i try to start it it will start for a second... after that if i disconnect the fuel pump then it will run till the pressure bleeds down and the car dies.. but if i plug the fuel pump back in it will run for a sec then die

i believe that the pump pressurerises the fuel system but not pump fuel when the engine is off, but the key is on.... check all electrical and think back why you thought to replace the fuel pump you may have over looked something simple....remember air+fuel+spark=bang....car runs...you said it starts, you got spark.you got fuel..check air??

the old fuel pump was locked up.. the P.O. let it set for over a year with the pump bad.. . but if you unhook the power going to the fuel pump it will start and run for a good minute till the pressure bleeds down after it has pressurized the system

will it run if you keep on the gas, or will it die anyway?

whether i hold the gas or not still does the same thing... the fuel pump stop when the engine dies.. it stays on after the key is released... my tach bounces when the starter is engaged but works normal when engine starts.. i have found 2 vacuum leaks... 1 fuel pressure damper there are 3 connections.. throttle body, fuel damper and there is another that is disconnected and i cant figure out where it goes.. also if you stand on the passenger side of vehicle and look between the metal intake pipes there is a 2 hose connection plug in connected to a metal tube.. there is nothing connected and i cant see any other connections that might go there

Me thinks you need to find another post 85.5 944 and do a photo survey so you can fix all this. Too bad you can't review the pictures in the Pelican upload folder. Should be able to find something.

Search for vacuum lines. Might be a diagram still on the server.

P.S. You don't hold the gas pedal down to start a 944. You don't pump it either. It's electronic -- when it works.
