central locking system

Ok here is one for people who understand electronics, not me in this problem. Lets start by saying when you push the central lock switch the doors do not lock but the little red ligts on each door start to flash and if you open the door the alarm does not go off unless you also open the glove compartment. If you use your key to unlock one of the doors the other door no longer unlocks with it. I also noticed when the system worked which it did about a month ago you could not lock the doors by hand meaning you you could not push down the door lock. Any ideas what could cause this and on a side note is there a car out there that never has a problem cause every car I own has some of the weirdest problems known to man. Thanks Brandon

hi some ideas

1> check the fuse and relay (I think?) look in passenger side fusebox
2> when you press the button or use the key do you hear a clunk ?
i) if so, the linkage might have popped off open the door panals and look for a small piece of plastic which has come adrift

3> there is a Cent.lock unit uder dash (I think) and a sender unit in each door, check/and or replace.
