I've been kinda venturing in and out of modifing my 944 N/A. I've considered alot of things, but most recently I've wanted to go with the exhaust upgrade, but after I found out it didn't affect (possibly dropped) the power in lower RPM ranges I said forget it. Now I've come across the MSD6A ignition and Blaster2 coil that, from actual users of the two products, highly improve the low range RPMs and acceleration. So, IF IN FACT the exhaust didn't harm the lower end RPM's BUT did help the higher end, getting these could balance that equation out. Car + Exhaust = More power in higher RPM's. Car + MSD6A ignition and Blaster2 coil = More power in lower RPM's and more accleration. Car + a MSD6A ignition and Blaster2 coil + Exhaust = Thorough RPM range power increase. If I do this I'll let you know my results from a GTech.
I'd post my stock times (5 runs 0-60 and 1/4 mile) & modified times. AFter these two mods it will be. 1 - Throttle Response Cam 2 - a MSD6A ignition and Blaster2 coil 3 - Exhaust System |

hmm, should be interesting! give it a shot, i'd like to see the results. the other thing to try is:
put in NEW spark plugs and distributor cap and rotor when you change to the MSD 6A ignition. it will only add $20 or so to the cost of the project and the MSD will love the new plugs and ignition components. find out what plugs MSD recommends too (if possible). good luck! obin |
