Guys,
Just did some welding on the exhaust system and kind of Fried the thing that monitors the Catalytic converter temp, This means that the “EX” light is on (Japanese’s 944 have this great feature, monitors cat temp and light up when 850 C is reached) In order to bypass this annoyance until I can replace the part, I have pulled Relay G16, it solves the problem, but also disable the “gong” feature – Here is the questions – what is the “gong” ? and can I live without it ? (g16 relay part number is 043 906 086) Regard, Guillaume

Yes, all that Japanese spec stuff is not necessary. Rumour has it that it was decreed by the Japanese Transport Authority to make it difficult to import cars.
By the way, I lived in Bahrain for nearly 5 years....
