speed sensors

Back to the cold weather firing problem. A bud told me that dirty speed sensors will prevent the engine from firing in cold weather. Has anyone had this happen?

I just took mine out and mixed them up I noticed that their is a D stamped and a B stamped on the bell housing and little yellow stickers on the sensors that tell you which one they are.

Good luck to clean up will take bout 1/2 hour

Back to the top - help.
We all know that there are two sensor that appear to be megnetic pick-up sensors. One should be reference to top dead center (TDC typical for #1 piston).
What does the otherone do? They appear to work in tandem somehow.
How does the DME use this signal to advance/retard the timing?
Can anyone shed some more light on this subject?
Thx
