A friend is interested in purchasing a late model Turbo S and I am assisting. On this car the wiper blades are stuck in a verticle (straight up) position. The seller indicates that he had it looked at and was told the motor was bad.
I wanted to ask you all if: 1) is this a common type of failure or should we look for another reason, ie. relay, fuse 2) Is the motor the same for the turbos and non turbos. 3) Is this a nightmare repair, or fairly easy. 4) whats a fair price for a used motor. thanks in advance for any wisdom or responses. brant |

Two things have happened to my wipers over the last few years. Once the fuse connection in the central electrics box was not holding the fuse tightly. I could wiggle it and get the wipers to come on. Second the relay blew out a bit later. Most likely due to the fuse popping in and out. But test the power to the motor to be sure. I sure would not let something as simple as a wiper issue deture me from getting a S turbo.

Wiper motors on early models aren't but $150-160. 86 on probably about the same. Easy to change.
Buy the car. drew1 |
