Post amp setup

OK so i got 2 10" dvc punch subs. A nice pair and considering i got them for free it wasn't a bad deal, i just had to fix a couple of small holes in one of them.

Anyway, now i am looking for an amp. looking for good power, around 150-200W for 2 channels at 2 ohm. Or around 350-400W at one channel 4 ohm. Becuase i can set them up either way they have dual voice coils.

Any ideas would help. Also i need some help thinking of a place to put the amp. I dont really want it in the open because of the big window and i dont want it stolen in school and stuff.

Thanks for the ideas in advance.

Hey Andre,

Those big storage wells aft of the rear wheels (beneath the cargo carpet) are ideal for amps and mounting of subwoofers. Another place, if the amp's not too bulky is beneath the glovebox.

my left well has a constant like 4 inches of water in it, and my right on is damp, i'm a little skeptical about putting an amp there, but under the glove box sounds good.

10" subs....may not fit in the rear side compartments.

Depending on the size of your Amp. It may fit in the side compartments.

I would install the amp+ sub where your spare wheel goes......I don't carry a spare wheel just an emergency tire patch.

2x10 in the wheel well sound great as long as you use a low pass crossover. The low pass will make the whole car vibrate...

good luck

Andrew those are the exact subs i have. I cant tell where you put them though. Are they in the spare tire campartment.

Also ae1969, my box is too big for the spare tire compartment and i dont want to spend about 150 just so i can fit it in there, i took out the top of the back seat and i can fit the subs there. And it doesn't take up the much trunk space because the seat isn't there. Also acts as a back to the seat so i can still seat people there.

i'm more concerned right now on where to put the amp, would it be worth putting it where the spare tire is?i like the idea of under the glove box. I have no idea what type of amp to get, thinking of spending 300-350 or so. Any help there would be awesome.

BTW, only 8" will fit in the side compartments.

I can hook you up with a Legacy 800 for like $180. I am not to familiar with that brand, but my friend who is selling it says it retails for like $500. It sounds pretty ****ing good to me. As for me, I have 2 bumper 525 watt subs, and a MTX Blue thunder pro 725 amp. I got all three for $120. Custom built box for another $35.

lol stuff sells on the street for more I guess. All the ghetto people don't have computers. But I don't think you're looking at the same one. It's a Legacy (not american legacy) amp. I will ask him about it, but it's too big for 2 10s really.

Cool

You could look into the Phoenix Gold Tantrum Series Amps. They have many different power/channel configurations to fit your system and phoenix gold is an excellent company, I had two phoenix gold amps in my last system and it sounded great. I saw a 200x2 amp for sale for $325 on the web.

Andre, I had my RF Punch 12"s in the side compartments. 10s will fit too, of course.

Rockford subs have more of a DEEP continuous bass over a Jazzy thump. get an amp with a built in crossover and add an EXTERNAL crossover to that while you are at it. you will be glad that you did. And also dont underpower the subs cause you will blow your voice coils out.
