Nah, I win, I had 2 MTX 15's in there, but now I am in the process of upgrading to 2 15's, a 12" and a 10", I will not list the amplifiers powering all this, but they are just sick. I'll have a sound-off with you any day =)

nice, but is it all in the bass and crappy sound? CAN'T forget about QUALITY! either way, looks like i have to start with 10's. 2 10's in that tiny car will be enough to rattle the man goods around a good bit.

Yep, 2 10's is lots for a little car like ours. Mine is on the way to becoming a show system, so SQ is before SPL, and it sounds great, everything is crystal clear. I think once I have it finished, I don't know if it will knock girl's clothes off, I guess I need a girls beach volleyball team to expirement with =)

And his next post, after adding all that speaker weight, will be "car feels slow. what can I do to increase performance?"

Unless you want to lose a large portion of the storage space in your car (trunk) the largest you can probably do is 10" subs with assorted sized midranges and tweeters. I fabricated two rear decks that fit into the space behind the rear wheel-wells in my 944. Only thing is they weren't amplified so i didnt get 100% of the power out of them. I also had two pairs of Blaupunkt multi-directional 4"x6" speakers in the cab area, which imho sounded awesome. I could have the windows down and the roof off and hpretty much set car alarms off. But the best part was the crossovers and equalizers i installed in the decks, so i could tune them to sound PERFECT. And i whole-heartedly agree, quality is everything. That's why i strived to have the best sounding (not bass-ridden POS) speakers in all my cars i've owned As for your custom speaker decks, I reccommend Bass wood for your box or decks you may make. You can get sheets at home depo. Also get some wood-hardener to apply before painting/covering them. It will help. Don't ever doubt the power of a man and a scroll-saw.

I use a 12" Cerwin Vega with a Pioneer 800W + 4 Kenwood 4x6's. That is excessive. For me it's about quality of sound not how loud I can thump. Gimmie some old AC/DC or Van Halen featuring Diamond David Lee and I'm in heaven. 70's and 80's all the way!

its all about quality, im running kappa infinities all around. as for location of the stuff, I dont use the trunk much, only for my backpack and soccer bag so its not a big deal. Im gonna fold the top of the back seat down, and use that for extra room for the subs. brando-its never about how loud you thump, but if you can keep the quality and up the thump... cj- Meh, im gonna do an LT-1 swap asap.

I think CJ was making fun of me. I already have a slow car, the compression is just terrible (~120psi, NOT a turbo!!), so I won't miss the performance. Besides, the entire setup is only about 180lbs, which isn't all that bad. It will really help with winter traction too. My system is built entirely for SQ, hence completely over-doing it. You ever notice how speakers sound best at low volumes? However, I am confident that it will be very loud if I do choose to crank it up.

i guess I am just from the opposite school of thought... i want my sports cars to be sports cars, not rolling DJ booths. My 944 is the earliest and lightest year, so it is on the verge of being pretty fast. I just cringe at the thought of ADDING weight to the car! My dream is to install lightweight seats, change the body panels to carbon fiber or fiberglass, remove the rear seats, remove the AC, and reap the benefits.

cj, if you really want a fast car, you need to either Swap the engine, or find a new one. Our cars arent fast. Just arent. Not much you can do, we got shafted. As for rolling DJ booth, i like music, i love sound, and having people go, now theres an F*ing system when my car rolls by is priceless

See now I'm differnt. I love music, I like sound and I dont give a ***** what people say when I "roll" by. As long as I am happy.

no, it is ON THE VERGE of being fast the 944 is a quick car. Very nimble, and probably a lot faster than you'd think around a race track due to its high cornering speeds and wonderful braking ability. Yes, 0-60 is kind of a joke by modern Porsche standards (especially in the later cars), but I have left many "fast" cars for dead through the twisties using 3rd and 4th. Everything from Mustang 5.0s to Chevelle SSs. Do not underestimate a ****** brilliantly-handling car's ability to leave "faster" cars in the dust in the real world. Maybe your car isn't fast, but mine isn't slow. I know I didn't get shafted.

The front and rear bumpers, the front and rear valence/flares, and the hood. Although, seeing your car with those changes, as well as lexan glass all around, stripped interior and only two seats, would be friggin awesome!!! /drool

one of the PCA racecars is a cobalt blue 944 that has everything tweaked... it even has its exhaust coming out of the PASSENGER DOOR! I don't know who runs it, but I do remember that it won its class at Rennsport Reunion 1 back in 2001... and this is against 993 Turbos and the like. now THAT was a 944! I wonder (out loud) how much weight would be saved by switching over to lightweight body panels wherever necessary? I remember reading an article in Excellence about a carbon 911, and that baby was LIGHT!

somehow I don't think I could motivate myself to drag my butt off the couch, and crawl across the room to peek out the window, to see who it was with the loud stereo making all the noise. To me it's a classic case of "dumb and dumber". Now I'd jump and run if I heard an unmuffled 944 purring down the street. Loud stereos are for juvenile delinquents. Loud 944 motors are for the intellectually inclined. P
