Post Tech Info On Tranny

Hey does anyone know where I can get info on the 944/924S 5 speed. I need pics, diagrams, specs, everything and anything. Im gonna take my old tranny apart and I would like to know as much as I can

Factory Manual has the info you need...

Unfortunately most of the equipment needed to rebuild the tranny is not in the average backyard mechanics garage.

Just remember, you asked for it

See attached images.

This is the input\output shafts with associated gears The shaft with the "ball" on the end is the pinion (output) shaft

Ring and pinion are a matched set and must be replaced together.



These are the gear selector forks



and finally, ring and pinion with standard differential



You will have to locate a factory repair manual for precise instructions on how to take it all apart.

You will need the following special tools.

Impact wrench and sockets
Slide hammer
Assorted pullers
Heat source (to get parts to expand for installation)
Cold source (to get parts to contract for installation)
Gasket kit
the patience of an oyster.

Its not too over my head, I took a manual tranny class in collage. But If I cant get a shop manual then I wont touch the tranny. Yes S-man you did help lots Thanx
