Post Lets hear it for German Engineering - Replacing Bumper Shocks

Well, horror of horrors today, someone backed into my car while it was parked - then left the area.

Fortunately, the only damage to my car was some green paint on my front licence plate bracket (ha ha!) and a compressed bumper shock.

Does anyone have any experience and/or hints/tips for replacing the bumper shocks?

Thanks

AFJuvat

take it off, put it in a vice and use a big hammer to knock it back out, save your money.

Well, I already picked up a set of 2 on ebay ($15.50 - not bad)

They don't look like they should be too tough, but wondering if there are any secrets/hidden surprises to doing them

If you have an NA, it sounds to me like it's time for you to do the wolfpri bumper mod. Scroll down for the how-to.

the bumper mod sure looks good but it eliminates a cheaper fix if you have any problems driving :-) i like being able to fix mine a little cheaper than having to take it to the shop and have the frame pulled out. just a thought.?
ive heard the national blind society wants a little wider parking stalls for their members.??? i thought that sounded interesting.

AF, if you haven't taken the bumper off before, just be careful with the wires going to the side blinkers. One of the posts on mine was rusted and broke off, I had to re-solder it and get new wire connectors ..

Otherwise, it is only 2 bolts, and you're all set to pull the bumper.

If anyone has any front bumper shocks, please let me know ..
thanks.

Ooops, I meant bumper pads (the black plastic foamy things on the front of the bumper) ...
