I put the Lindsey Racing Boost Enhancer on my 89 951 (81k miles) last week and within days my wastegate failed. The valve came apart on the inside and was rattling around in the downpipe. Now I need a new wastegate. Not bad for a $90 performance mod! FWIW, my advice is to steer clear of the LBE. If you want to make up for a "weak spring" wastegate, get a new wastegate first. Don't beat on it with a LBE. I'm lucky that my turbocharger is not grenaded, and am tossing this info out there simply to save someone else a possible headache and wasted money. Has anyone else had this problem with the LBE?

Hey, Mind did almost the same thing, broke the diapgram. I got a used waste gate for $150 with a 6 month warranty. I installed it, turned up the LBE to 12 and no Problems since...If it blows, its warranteed...It came from Dad's recylcling on the west coast.. Nice guys, and fast service.

Thanks for the replies. I went with a Teile wastegate since my repair guy swears by them for the 951. They bolt right on and apparently are used on Porsche race cars. He has one in stock (of course), so I get my car back quicker too. I'm just POed that with all the great things I've heard about the LBE on this board and others, nobody said, btw, it may destroy your stock wastegate. Lindsey says the LBE are not needed on aftermarket wastegates, only on stock ones. Yet, it damages the stock wastegate. Seems like this idea was best left on the drawing board.

The Tial wastegate is not a bolt-on. It'll require some welding and possibly cutting.
I've heard nothing but great things about the LBE since being on both pelican parts and rennlist. Sounds like your wastegate was broken beforehand and the LBE advanced its complete demise. BTw - you could save a ton of money if you ordered the Lindsey Wastegate which is a complete bolt in deal (1/2 hour). You wouldn't notice any difference between it and the Tial either.

I thought it was a big job to install a new wastegate, take exhaust and intake off and stuff. Am I misinformed? how do you install a new waste gate? If you put in a new lidsey wastegate do you need a boot enhancer?
