So.... I had Pioneer 4x6 Plates in the front, they were the component plates. I ended up trashing the tweeter on them. Magnets got busted under pressure. Go figure.
So, I went to look for options...the usual 4x6 stuff we see here every week on this board. So here is my solution. I bought an Alpine Component system 1 inch tweeter with 6 1/2 ". Took the 1 inch installed as you see in the pic, and I used the 3-4 inch off the Pioneer component plate. Screwed it into the the 4x6 opening attached the crossover and the 1 inch tweeter and voila. It sounds great! I can put the ugly factory grills back on, without them bulging. And now I get incredible highs from the component set up to blend in with the 2 10 inch subs. I am telling you....it does not get much better than this. The tweeter closer to your ears really makes all the difference. Add the deafning bass, and I think I am now done, playing with the stereo configurations. THis is it. ![]() ![]() |

you should try to make a trim to seal off the speaker. it will make a samll difference. it keeps the inverted back wave from cancelling the front wave. if you have the space in the door, you may want to try mounting the speaker from the inside.
