decreasing clutch pedal effort- any options
I have an 87 951 and I'm having knee problems related to the clutch pedal. Is there a way of decreasing the effort that it takes to depress the clutch pedal? I am ordering a smaller steering wheel in an effort to improve the angle. I also could benefit from moving the pedal to the left by 2-3 inches. Any thoughts on how difficult that would be to fabricate?
I have a stock sachs clutch and pressure plate.

Yes, there is. Look up under the dash where the clutch peddle lives. On the backside of the peddle linkage (towards the driver seat) you should see a spring on a rod that is backed up with an adjustment nut. Turning the nut one way compresses the spring and decreases the amount of force you need to apply to the peddle.

Is it more a matter of the amount of travel, or the amount of force?
I would think that, for a price, you coul definitely retrofit a new master cylinder for the hydraulic clutch and/or use weaker return springs for the clutch actuator assembly. As for moving the clutch, the biggest obstacle I could foresee is fabricating a new pedal cluster, which is certainly possible. Moving where the master etc mounts to the firewall doesn't seem like it would be a huge problem.

Its force and angle. My wife's golf gives me trouble too, but much less so since the clutch requires less effort and my knees are above it. With the stock steering wheel in the 951, I have to move my knee sideways towards the door as I press and release the pedal instead of a more natural straight back and forth. I'll take a look at the spring. Thanks for the tip.
