Anyone heard of winter time gas?
Is there such a thing? If so,... what the hell is it and could it cause or does it cause a 2 - 3 mpg drop and a slight powerloss?

phx az used to change gas twice a year. not sure if i ever saw a mileage change or performance change.
as i recall they put it on the pump that it was 10% or so of something different and i never had hot or cold start problems with bosch fuel injection in an older volvo.

We run winter gas nearly year-round here, lol.
Nah, just about 5 months of the year though. I don't see any mileage difference at all.

Don't they make winter-time diesel? I think it's got an anti-gel additive or something.

Here in Missouri, in St. Louis, to meet the EPA pollution guidelines, they change over to an "oxygenated" gas that from what I hear results in a loss of mpg and some power. Fortunately, here in mid-Missouri, we get the good stuff year round.

Yep, they do make winter diesel, that's why when you drive a VW TDI you have to be careful to use a well-used service station when it first gets cold. Otherwise it is possible they do not have the anti-gel in their diesel tanks, and it will gel up once in your tank =(
Though they use the engine to heat the fuel filter and de-gel the diesel. Just runs like crap for a while. There's my fun fact for the day =)
