![]() Has anyone here bored their own throttle ? I was wondering how hard it would be and what you used to do it. It doesnt seem like it will be very hard, and most places were asking $350+ to bore... thanks in advance ------------------ Kirk 85' 944 |

I'll be doing mine one of these days just for fun. You need a milling machine and a way to fabricate a new "door".

Over boring the TB is the easy part. The butterfly inside is the hard part to duplicate. It is actually egg shaped and the leading and trailing edge of the butterfly is tapered as well. If you could find a stock TB in a junk yard and get the butterfly from it it would make life alot easier. Of course it will take some calipers and some time to figure out what would be a good application.

Give Ed Mazula a call, I've heard he has decent prices on boring out the throttle body. (800) 792-9338
I'm not associated w/this guy, a friend recommended him when he looked at boring out the throttle body on his BMW 318i (~$170 if I remember correctly, 1 day turnaround). |

I've had one in my car for a few years now. Some increase in power and smoother. I had my dad bore it for me and build the new plate, since he is a machinist.
