If your tie rods end have worn rubber bushings, is it necessary to replace the whole end or can just the bushing be replaced? Where can I get just the bushings? Would a worn bushing cause a vibration in the steering wheel when turning or switching lanes at highway speeds?
Thanks. Joe |

Yes, worn tie rods will cause vibration and as far as I know, no, you can't just replace the bushings, though tie rod ends are not all that expensive.

Outer tie rods cost ~$35 per side.
The whole "kit" inner and outer is ~$85 if you ask for 944 parts. When i got my -85 944 it needed both inner and outer on both sides. I got one at $75 but was told there was a national back order on more. So the car sat for three months waiting. I got pissed and installed one side drove up to the local forien auto parts place and said i need a inner for a rabbit. The guy said i show three. I said i'm not sure so he got the two he had on the shelf and dam if I got one for $22 that was ~1/8 shorter, it still had over one inch inside the outer rod. I kept the box will post number tues. 44 |
