Looked under the hood of my '83 944 and noticed it has the European chasis designation (WPO ZZZ *****). How is this car any different from a US/Canada chasis if the car has been in California it's whole life?
I know it's a California car because I have the dealer window sticker from the PO. Thanks. Joe |

The wpozzz... is stamped on every 944 in the world, the wpoaa....is on the windshield post and door jamb.

Britwrench,
Are you saying the website I mentioned was wrong or did I just misunderstand what it says? Joe |

Haven't looked at the website, but this is the situation.
All 944 have the wpozzz stamped into to the firewall, but ONLY 944 for the North American market have the wpoaa..on the sticker on the door jamb and the windshield post. Therefore if you car has the wpoaa number on the sticker and windshield post it is a USA spec car. Other ways to tell are bumpers, side marker lights, brake light configuration and some other stuff. The wpozzz...number is not the vin number for the American market. No, I have no idea why either!!! |
