I know there have been a ton of "hard start" questions, but have not seen any that have the same symtoms as mine...
Have a 1987 944S with 93K miles. The car only starts hard when the engine is cold and the air is warmer than 70 degrees. I live in Maine and will not go any farther north to support this habit! When the air temp is cold, she starts and idles fine. When the engine is warm, she starts and idles fine...only when the air is warm and the engine is cold is there a problem. TPS checks out fine, distributor/rotor/wires/plugs have been replaced, injectors test out fine and seals are 100%. Any ideas??? Thanks. |

Have you checked your temp sensor?

Good question. I don't have an "S", but on mine it's under the intake boot screwed into the head. You'll see a two prong connection. The sensor should have a blue or green head. I can take a pic tonight and post it. I can also check the values for the plug and sensor and post those.....but I'm sure someone has them and can post them quicker than me checking my manual.

Thanks. I, as most everyone have the Haynes manual. Does not cover the "S". Will take a look and see what it has on the 8-valve.
