rotten eggs
I was told that the rotten egg smell that I get in the cab when excellerating is caused by the mixture being too rich.
The shop drilled out the mixture cap and adjusted the mixture and got it right on according to the 'scope'. I'm still getting the the smell though. Not as bad but is still there. Any thoughts? Thanks, Paul 83 944 |

You have air leaks in the back of your car. Most likely around the tail lights or the hatch seal or both.
The tail lights are sealed with the 3M black putty like stuff. The hatch seal is either the pin adjustment or the seal or both.

I think you nailed it.
I have no hatch seal. Guess I better order one. No driver door seal either. Also, I think I'm missing a boot that goes under the shifter boot. Air comes up from the shifter. Stinks! Thanks, Paul 83 944 |

You have to seal the cab from the exhaust gasses or you will poison yourself, pass out and have a permanent out of body experience.

A new hatch seal will stretch when you put it on. Don't cut the ends short as this will soon result in a gap as the seal shrinks.

The only time I had a 944 smell like sulphur the voltage regulator died. I had no choice but to drive home with the gauge pegged, and the battery was toast by the time I got home.

Could have turned on all your lights and played your 10,000 watt stereo at full blast!
Watt? Watt did you say? Watt? You have to yell? Watt?

And get some of that Wurth rubber sealant stuff; I found it useful to seal up the joint where the two ends come together (in the middle). It's a pretty straightforward installation.

You know, if the sulfur smell is from the exhaust you might want to run a couple cans of Sea Foam through your gas to help clean out the catalytic converter.

Mechanic in a Can.
Worked 50 years ago on that old Chevy of Dad's! No reason it can't work on a Porsche! ![]() Did they have CATs fifty years ago? NOT!

Can't you just spray the SeaFoam in the interior to get rid of the smell? It seems to do everything else.
