When modifying the 944 rocker panels does this seam serve a purpose or is it just where the front fender can be removed?

Filling it will not let you take the fenders off. Also the fenders move independen of the body so most likely any "fill" (bondo) will crack.

Welding will burn the galvanizing off. Will start rusting real bad then.

Interesting.
The fenders need some movement of their own..... ..... I was thinking about masking off the 968 area and just spraying more texture coat then paint followed by clear. Just to build it up a little. Welding never entered my mind BUT, there are ways to clean and prep to avoid rust post weld. Just more extensive than I want to get into. I will have to consider this more methinks.
