944 dash light
yet another question...
the light behind my dashboard is out behind the tachometer. How do I replace this? I've looked online a bit, but nothing really specific to my model (84 na). anyone have any howtos on this that I've missed somewhere? I'm sure its probably simple, but I'm sort of afraid to tear things apart where I've never been before.... |

You have to pull the instruments out. You take off the steering wheel and the plastic covers over the ignition switch and column switches. There are two large phillips head screws in the top of the housing. Pull the instruments out carefully as you will need to take the speedometer cable off before you can get them all the way out.

How bright were these lights stock? I just bought my '83 944 (see sig) and when driving it home last night I realized the dash lights are very dim.. Is there a dimmer switch that I don't know about, is it just naturally very dim, or do I have an issue? Any help is appreciated!

over by the headlite on/off switch, a roll knob.

New owner! How old is the timing belt?
I think the bulbs are 3 watts. Think you can up them to 5 watts with out burning out the dimmer.
