Another idle problem

Okay, so I've read through some of the old posts about idling problems, but most are about a high idle related to a vaccum leak. My problem is that sometimes, only sometimes, the idle will dip all the way down to around 200 and almost stall, then shoot back up to 800 where it belongs, then back to 200 and so on. Other times it idles fine at 800. Maybe it has something to do with the airflow? Also, when the idle dips down, the oil pressure and E-brake light come on at the same time right before it seems that it is about to stall. I'm thinking this could just be an unrelated electrical problem of some sort. Let me know what you guys think!

Edit: Oh yeah my car is a 1983

what year is your car?

Have you checked your oxygen sensor or replaced it? O2 sensors also cause sudden surges in idle. Also your Auxiliary air regulator could be on the fritz. Usually they don't wear out but if they do, they can throw your whole car's reliability off.

Good luck with your issue, let us know if you get it fixed or not.

Modulating Idle 200 RPM to 800 RPM up and down not all the time 1989 944S2

I sure appreciate what you are talking about. Mine will do this once and a while when I pull up to a stop light. Usually on a hill! I need a respose to this same as you do. I had the idle control valve replaced but this corrected nothing.
