doesn't go into first at more than 0mph
Is it normal that I cannot physically put the stick into 1st unless I am at a dead stop?
I had just assumed that due to the transaxle magic that's how it was, but now I am wondering? If I do try to put it in 1st and am rolling at all it grinds, and yes I have the clutch all the way in. Thanks

I have the same problem in my old BMW. The two poster above have found the problem and the solution.

so is that something that I can fix if/when I ever do a clutch job?
I will try matching up the rpms but its scary because I hate to grind it even a little.. I generally just roll the stop in 2nd if no one is around, or come to a full dead stop if I have to.
