1987 944s hp ?

What's the stock hp on this car? Ballpark figures is fine.

It's 188? I always thought it was 158.. Ah well, a nice pleasant surprise.

158 is the correct hp for an '87 944 8v.
I dunno the hp for a 944 S 16v but 188 sounds abt right.
(I heard the early 16v had some problems and no more low-end oomph than an 8v. Correct me if I am wrong)

Yup, for the 16 valve, you lose a lot of low end power, but you also gain a ton in the high end.

I think he meant "944's horsepower", not "944S horsepower". So the answer is the lower figure, not 188 (unfortunately)

hey...158 is a suprise to me. I thought it was more like 145chp...but mine is obviously lower rigaurdless.

Topped out at 112mph last night..cool night, no wind. I was disapointed. I REALLY need to get this car into propper tune...

Actually, no he asked "what is the stock h.p. on this car", then qualified his statement by saying that a ballpark estimate was fine, as in acceptable if an exact number were not available.
