Porsches decision to go with a hatch instead of a coupe?
Anyone have insight as to why Porsche chose to go this route with the 924/44/68? Seems to me that a coupe would be lighter and much more rigid, and more of a sporty design. Not complaining about the hatch design, because I would have gotten it no matter, but I've always been curious about it...

they designed the car for Audi to use as a sportscar line, and Audi probably had designated a hatchback design (for cargo room, perhaps?).
Once Porsche decided to go with the 924 as its own model, it probably just stuck with the design it already had
