Major brake problem
Please help. I finally got my 83 944 back on the road today after a major overhaul. After going a block down the road I felt the brakes sticking a little. At first I thought it was the emergency brake sticking, but it wasn’t. Somehow my brakes are building up pressure as I drive the car. I don’t know if something is wrong with the vacuum or what. Now I have a brand new rebuilt motor that has gotten hot because of the brakes are locking up. This car seems to be nothing but trouble.

The brake pedal is all the way up. There is plenty of pedal pressure. I tried disconnecting the vacuum to the booster and the pedal became very stiff.

I disconnected the vacuum to the booster and I am able to drive it down the road, with no power brakes. Is this a symptom of a bad master cylinder? I always thought those just allowed air into your system.

Thank you for your help. Turns out the pedal was not adjusted right. Now if I could only figure out all these other problems.
